They repair your engine, if that is possible. If not, they buy one from breakers - refurbish it and sell it to you.

I spent many years searching Ripple Road and recovering parts of other peoples vehicles during my career that’s all...not suggesting this firm are hookey but the majority of JLR products currently stolen are broken up for parts to supply the used parts market...

If you search EBay for complete engines the majority of sellers appear to be from Lithuania and the like....

Well.. we sell classic motorcycles (and parts) for a living , the most expensive ones, the rare ones, sell mostly towards the former eastern and baltic european country’s.
They pay, very good money (better than other european prospect buyers want to pay) and easy... ... they want licenced registered stuff, with paperwork that is, they want an invoice, are registred company’s/ buyers...

Friends of mine are car brokers here in The Netherlands...same there.... they (baltic buyers, that is) buy all their current accident cars there for breaking them themselves...sometimes brake them on the spot..
There are JLR dealerships in those country’s to you know...

Far to easy to mention these countries in the same sentence as the word “stolen” really...

Maybe that is not what you meant, but just wanted to say our experience with them is quite positive...
 Best regards
Harold

No it’s not really but from experience I can say that a large number of slaughters here in the uk are staffed by persons claiming to be from Eastern Europe...they short term rent industrial premises and then operate often 24/7 facilities dismantling cars.

These parts then find themselves on the second hand parts markets sold by EBay or social media channels.

You would be horrified at the volume of Land Rover theft currently in the UK....

The point I was making was be cautious when purchasing from unknown sources....a reputable company would be registered properly....
buying cheap from these sources just proliferates the problem of theft....and our cars could be next!

And Ripple Road was very well known to me !!

Discovery Doctors

Discovery Doctors buy their engines from QP, apparently- though I have to declare an interest now that I am working within the JLR Service and Remanufacturing arm- I would ONLY buy a GENUINE REMANUFACTURED unti through an Indipendant specialist and through the JLR Dealership network.

The Reman units can be up to half the price of new crated engines- but come with the same guarantee.

There is therefore NO NEED to tak a chance on any 'rebuilt' units in terms of provenance, standard of build or guarantee.

Buyers choice! Thumbs Up
D4 HSE in Stornoway- love it. Jaguar XF, MG TF, D2 ES V8 and 2x TR7s for playing!

Gone- D3- a fortune spent and now a lovely car for it's new owner; D2 G4 replica- Tangiers Orange and survivor of 2 Pot Noodle Challenge's!

... buyer beware.

The only alternative I would recommend is forum sponsor Oval Autos:-

I spend far too much time reading posts on Facebook discovery 4 groups. From what I can gather QP Online has an excellent reputation. I've seen posts where they have been recommended as an alternative to a new engine, by well a well thought of LR specialist who will only fit genuine new crated LR engines himself.

I haven't dealt with them - but if the big rotating bit in my engine went snap and wasn't covered under warranty - I would be booking my car in with them asap.
