Phone bluetooth upgrade.

My D3 has a Parrot kit fitted but it's pretty unreliable at connecting to my phone and doesn't cut the radio when I answer a call. The previous owner said it was fitted because the microphone quality of the factory system was rubbish.

I need to get it sorted out, as I use the vehicle for work. What's the best option? Another Parrot kit wired in properly, or sort out the standard system? And, yes, I have done a search but the threads go back years, so the information is probably out of date.

Thanks.

Glen.

Hi,

I use an Echo Auto in mine, great for spotify streaming, playing digital radio e.t.c. as well as handsfree system for calls, no doubt the mic on it is infinitely better than the OEM one - just need to order a longer 3.5mm cable to get to the aux input behind the centre armrest/console

I use the factory fitted and its good, had a parrot in the last D3 and that was also good.
I used my GAP iiD to upgrade the BT module to the D4 spec

That looks a good option. Digital radio would be nice to have.

I have got the same Parrot unit in my van and that is good but it just doesn't work in the Discovery. I think it might have been wired incorrectly.

I have the GAP IID tool, so I could try the upgrade and see how well that works.

just to note that it will be streamed over your phones data connection so something to consider if you're not unlimited (is radio streaming rather than proper digital, but you get all the stations)

The upgrade means you dont need to input the 2121 code every time you activate bluetooth and also allows the stored phone numbers to be held in the car system, with your system what 4 digit number activates the factory system
