PDC ECU faulty - Dealer says this is rare?
Just had a call from the dealer to say that they still have not fixed my front and back PDC's after the second visit.
Thay are saying that the ECU has gone and that this is so rare that they did not order one in advance and just ordered new sensors?
I have found at least two people on the site who have had to have the ECU replaced, can anyone give me a more accurate number as I'm off back to the dealer in an hour and am a bit narked that yet another visit is needed.
Thanks

Did you get them to complete an EPQR, that is the only way problems will be recorded.

Brilliant, they were taken aback when I gave them the reference for the Rear Entertainment download this morning! This will make me look a "real techie"

My PDC was patchy performance, sometimes would not come on and beep at all. My dealer replaced a board under warranty and is has been perfect since.Nov '54' TDV6 SE Manual 25,000 miles - Excellent !! Don't buy an Auto until you have driven a Manual !!!!

My rear sensors (no fron ones on an "S") were erratic in operation, and were eventually totally cured by an ECU change.Long succession of Disco's since 2001...
SIII Lightweight - neglected & rusting. Bulkhead, A panels, vent panel & outriggers now disintegrated - Next years project!

It really annoys me this
LA413-001 is a Technical Service Bulletin issued on the Land Rover Global Technical Reference Website, and specifically refers to this problem of intermittent operation of the PDC system.
It also says it is for action "Upon Customer Complaint Only" which is not very good because it is basically a bug fix on the ECU. It costs LR for each one fixed, so those that don't complain don't get it.
It annoys me more that we have to tell the bl@@dy dealers about it.

I collected my SE on Saturday and the rear sensors have worked off and on since collection. I will be running the car for another couple of weeks before approaching the dealer with a list of glitches.
the story so far:
3/12/2005
60 miles: momentarily flashed up “Engine system faultâ€
4/12/2005
08.00 Vehicle left at normal height overnight – resulted in vehicle loosing height possibly listing. Air leaks?
15.00 Rear parking sensors did not work. However have since worked.
17.30 Park brake fault. Cleared after locking car and unlocking and restarting.
2 days – 298 miles.
5/12/2005
Wife drove car, Parking sensors did not work?
6/12/2005
Vehicle not used.
I am still very happy as non of these problems are major, can't wait to see the dealers face when I quote the technical bulletin - good work Winger. Some say the glass is half full. Others that it is half empty. I say 'Are you drinking that?"

I still repeat have you all ensured that the dealer has filled in EPQR's or nothing will be done.
No EPQR, no knowledge by LR and no feedback to the dealer, so they may well be right.
EPQR's guys all the time.

Nick This appears to be a commonly problem unfortunately my bumper and body work got bent when mine packed up whilst reversing in the dark well pitch black. Can I claim from LR on the damaged caused?

Xcavator ...you might not realise how old this thread is ...2005 I don't think this is a common problem as there don't appear to be too many posts about the problem Nick and a few others had since.
As for whether you could claim for the damage from LR ...I doubt it as they make clear that the system is an aid and should not be seen as a substitute for driver judgement. If the system proves to have a fault however then you could persuade them to show some goodwill perhaps 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Thanks for that I tried the goodwill today they must have used all theirs over Christmas .............so you guessed it no joy. As you mentioned and they did nearly word for word this is to be used as an aid to assist Not replace your vision! However one plus is that the bumper maybe reformed by heating with a hairdrier and pushing it back (size of a marble) and the small dent is just above the light so a rear light guard may cover this wonder what they cost to fit, I can buy both f and r for £138.75 so might be best opition. Cheers Xcavator
