Park heating/heated mirrors

I know this is a bizarre post for middle of summer but was looking for something unrelated in the 2011 LR workshop manual and came across the following:

"On vehicles with the parked heating function, exterior mirror heating may also operate when the parked heating function is active, depending on the ambient air temperature. For additional information, refer to: Auxiliary Heater (412-02B Auxiliary Heating, Description and Operation)."

Sure enough there is nothing more about it in section 412-02B. I really didn't know that, i.e. that the mirrors will defrost if you use the timed or remote climate. Wrong time of year to go and check I know but has anyone actually seen it work like that?

I've not checked or noticed it but it would seem a strange thing to do in terms of power management.
