Megaflush tomorrow
Geoff is carrying out a Megaflush tomorrow afternoon on my 100k D3. It's more prevention than cure as I don't really have any transmission issues. Will I notice any difference, subtle or otherwise?

I'd be interested in any thoughts on this topic too......mine has 93,000 and no problems.
Is it worth it doing? Would i be dislodging sediment and depositing elsewhere causing unseen problems?2009 spec D3 HSE

No, by having it flushed, you are pumping out what is essentially a fine grinding paste, and replacing it with fresh oil
There will be no sediment or deposits within the gearbox to be dislodged, but all the worn debris from he gearbox internals is being pumped around with your old oil, slowly killing it from the insideMy D3 Build Thread

I could get down that far, providing there is enough interest to make it a worthwhile trip My D3 Build Thread
I'd be interested in getting my MY2010 done for the right price if I get someone/where near by - 15 miles south of Gloucester on the Welsh side of the river would be great LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

So anyone had this done? Does the vehicle drive better, smoother gear changes, quieter?

You can add another two to that list, both in the Newcastle area but like you we're willing to travel north...

I had mine done by Geoff soon after I bought it - purely preventative as I didn't have any existing issues. There was no difference afterwards other than the warm fuzzy feeling of knowing it had been done.

I would say having the flush done every 75k miles is a bit like an engine oil change - dont expect to notice a change in feel of the car.
However, if you leave it too long between each flush and start to get the judders, then whether it feels different or not will depend on how much damage was already done to the TC before the flush. I had two flushes (not by any sponsors on here, they did not have the kit then) and eventually bit the bullet and changed the TC. Having learned my lesson, i will now have a flush much more frequently than LR recommend. Prevention is better than cure.2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

we've had this debate before on here but LR say its sealed for life, the german maker of the transmission say its every 75k if yer towing a lot/motorway driving or 100k if normal driving everyday around town - either way oil will degrade so as you say, prevention better than cure.
did you replace the pan/filter for the upgrade metal one off the X5?

ZF actually recommend a flush between 50-75k miles, or as low as 30k miles if you do frequent towing or "high speed driving" My D3 Build Thread

I had my one done by Geoff. @120k and it was possibly the first change ever on this box. Difference was enormous. From fluctuating revs and hard gear changes before to smooth acceleration and seamless gear changes straight after the flush. I think we caught it right before was too late, oil wasn't burned but well used and black.
Well worth doing it!! Do it before its too late and costs less than TC replacement!.Disco 3 HSE (55) - gone

I thought you couldnt mega flush a D4 as you can a D3 due to extra plumbing with oil thermostat?

6 speed D4 is easy enough.
8 speed not so. It's in hand though, just need to find some spare time to knock something up My D3 Build Thread
