Lift Kits for D3/D4

My facebook page popped up this link:

http://www.johnsonrods.com/johnson_rods_004.htm

Followed some links like the Lucky8llc and they have some great looking products for D3/D4. The Rover Racks roofracks look very interesting.

Am I the only one smirking at the juxtaposition of "Johnson" and "Rods"? Rolling with laughter

How might these work? Question

It looks like they are a different length to standard LR ones and fool the air suspension to sit higher. I don't see how they can increase the maximum lift in the suspension unit though, unless there is further lift in the units beyond what is utilised by LR. Anybody any used them (or similar) ?

remember that with standard rods and some grounding you can get an additional near 6 inches (ooo errr missus) out of the existing air suspension - though gawd know what would happen with amended length rods, and a ground out - presumably the air bags have a hard stop on them somewhere - though would the car keep the compressor going in the false hope that "yes I will get myself into super extended mode eventually" ???? Confused

You wouldn't want to turn the steering when lifted that high either

Yep those tyres look very interesting.......if you follow the lucky 8 link they have lift kits for D3 that have adjustable rods for the height sensors and a set of spacers that go on top of the airspring so that it isn't stressed by being in raised mode all the time. This lift kit will let you fit 32inch tyres with no clearnance problems.

Got the idea now. Every Land Rover height mode goes up by 2.5 inches!

So those who struggle to get in or out at normal ride height are scuppered because access mode becomes what is currently road height.

Nope 6' in bare feet! Though I have an aged relative with restricted mobility who finds the only vehicle she can get in and out of unassisted is the D3 - if set to access height.

So what I want Neil is access height and road height to remain the same, but off-road height to increase.

You can set the height peramiters via pips on a fault mate and also GreameS has a pre production eletric box for $500 Aussie a pop.... think a rod kit and step ladder might be best!.

Tis a problem though and I'm with you. Think its a job for Colin.

What worked best of all with the D1 was an upturned 1/2-pint bottle plastic crate borrowed from the local pub. Just right size and height, with a good grippy top surface. Plus, if you forgot to lift it and drove off, no-one bothered to nick it. Queen Mother had a flunkey with something similar, but it was covered in ermine.
