I'll have a word with my colleagues in the gear shift department in work, they sit near me, and see if there's a way of repairing it easily instead of having to go through warranty.
Do you still qualify for Land Rover Assist? Call them out as they can diagnose and condem without having to go to a dealer.1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

My one has just died this morning after a few flickers but it’s now out of warantee. Any idea how easy it is to remove the selector unit?Discovery 4 HSE 2014 (Current)

"There was an electronic problem with the tolerance of the green led drive circuit.
There is not an easy fix."
Knowing what our electrical department is like, it could be anything as most items are beyond them.
Sorry if I can't be more help but I tried. If this is actually the case, I would have thought it is a design issue rather than warranty and could be pushed through Land Rover?1972 Range Rover Classic 2 door V8

I seem to remember you getting this fixed. Did you do it yourself? Is there a part number/procedure anywhere to follow to fix this?
I have a third party warranty and thinking about trying to get it done under that , but trying to do some homework on parts/costs/fix procedure first.
ThanksGary

Thanks Mark !
Glad you did that. I like a roundup post on a problem topic for future reference.
I checked Powerful and they don't seem to do the gear selector module, although they do sell different rotary switches for cosmetic changes. I found the part for sale new for about £300.
The Land Rover TPR calls for 'calibration' after fitting the new mechanism . Sounds like you didn't have to do it? Can't find any details of this online anywhere.
CheersGary

Mine wasn't working properly - the ring would intermittently illuminate then would go off next time you glanced down. I replaced it with a 2016 one from eBay. Think it was £70 posted. Super condition and the light works currently. Hopefully they fixed the issue with this HW release/version.
Not the correct one for mine in terms of looks though as it has a black leatherette top on the knob and the XXV's have a polished/machined top but electrically it is the same/better and it works fine.
Did not have to do any firmware upgrade, adaptation or anything - it is just a quick drop in as described above. Works fine, no errors and it is a lot tighter . I just disconnected the battery so the car didn't get grumpy.
The correct part for the XXV is EH2M-7E453-AA and when I checked it was around £260 +VAT.
I now have a spare in case this one breaks. In today's world, if you contribute something, you don't contribute enough. If you contribute nothing, you receive everything.

Thanks ! Wasn't going to buy second hand , since I thought it would go again. Presume you changed the whole module ?
I think you can buy the XXV rotary switch with on Powerful (and probably other places).
CheersGary

I just changed the knob unit - I just had a look at my purchase history - it was £50!
Part was EH22-7E453-AC (the "M" in my previous post/part signifies a special edition)
It was as below. I have removed the seller info but I must have figured at the time it was worth a punt @ £50.
I saw the knobs on PUK but I could just heat mine up with a hair dryer and prise the top off. But it looks ok at the moment. When this one breaks I will buy a new one with a 2 year warranty as I would rather buy new than £150+ on eBay used now.In today's world, if you contribute something, you don't contribute enough.
