Just got to get the battery and bung it in.
I did do the battery reset routine when I tried it by mistake (expected an "are you sure you're sure you're sure" choice) but have had the car on charge overnight so should be fine.

Battery on charge, was at 12.68V out of the box. Bit of a snag, did my back in before or at the Chepstew camping so won't be swapping it out at the mo.
Reading Robbie's instructions on another post, it says to put the bonnet into maintenance position. Just undo the bottom or top end of the gas strut and rest the bonnet on the roof with a towel or sponge in between? Or can this be skipped?

Maintenance position is easier than that as the bonnet locks vertically. It's not required but it makes access so much easier with a heavy battery.

You know the next question.
How do I get it like that?

Nothing to it - use a small screwdriver to pry the clip back on the bottom of the gas strut and the strut will dangle free. Repeat on other side and lift the bonnet free and up until it clicks. To release again just pull back the metal lever on the hinges.
The little metal clip does not have to come completely off (although it is no drama if it does) just a few mm is enough to release the strut from the ball socket.
Land Rover have had these locking hinges from at least the P38 days. Most owners never notice the odd looking hinges though and they are not mentioned in the workshop manual, probably due to people suing them for decapitated mechanics.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

If you need a lift to put it in, give me a shout as I would be happy to lend a hand.

Cheers, will do. Managed to get my junk from Chepstew packed away so back's getting better. Just go T to be careful. It's one of these times when I'd rather be at the gym.
Rob, learned something new.
