if wrong fuel then higher fuel usage

Hello,
This is a question for those of you that know alot about the mechanics of the
discovery 4.
if the wrong fuel is used, then you unflush it and say you change the filter.
Then fill up with correct fuel.
is it possible the engine gets damaged and starts using more fuel than what it
used to?

How far did you drive on unleaded? Did the D4 grind to a halt?

We need much more detail - what did you do exactly?

But yes petrol can do terrible damage, depending on what happened.

ie - I put in x litres of petrol on x litres of diesel / I just turned on the ignition but did not start / I started it and drove for x miles / I drove it till it stopped etc…

I do not have that experience.
because I like mechanics, I just want to know if this can make the engine use more fuel in future?

None of this is good news….

Diesel lubricates the high pressure fuel system; petrol strips it all away. The HP system runs at incredible pressures and at fine tolerances. With metal-on-metal contact microscopic particles work around destroying parts of the fuel system all the way down to the injectors.

So yes it can use more fuel as the injector charge will be wrong but the mpg is the least of your worries. The HP system costs thousands and poorly injectors can inflict damage on the pistons and contaminate your oil for even more misery.

Need to know how much you put in archi.

10 litres into a tank with 60 already in - 2 miles you might well get away with. 60 into a tank with only 10 in - squeaky bum time.

I would put a litre of 2 stroke oil in a full tank and run it as normal. Unless the engine packs in full stop there is no use in replacing anything at the moment. Good luck

Does that really help? I have not seen anything like that in textbooks or heard
