Fuel consumption

My D3 has just gone in for a service at 24000 miles. When I got it back I was lucky to get better consumption than 21mpg. I normally get 26-30mpg. I phoned the dealer who took it back in, did 'a download' and hey presto - back to 30mpg.
Just curious - why???

Yup, mine sits at 23mpg around town (autobox). Extra 7mpg would be great and means Mr. Darling gets less of my pocket money Evil or Very Mad

Just out of interest, are these figures from the trip computer or calculated flll-up to fill-up?

Just from the trip computer.

What I don't understand is why it was soooo bad after the service and what they maybe should (or shouldn't) have done at the time. Maybe I should get a TC/Torqtune.

For info I think I get 30mpg because I switch into manual mode. My changes are earlier than those of the autos. In auto 25mpg when SWMBO (with the heavy right foot Whistle )is driving is about right.

I get 23-25mpg, solo, towing, around town, on a motorway....never seems to make a difference....lets be honest though you dont buy a 2.8 tonne 4x4 and worry about mpg Whistle
D4 HSE....Probably, but not quite decided yet.

Yup, I agree - consumption had never bothered me until 2 things happened:

1.The £1.20 litre
2.Seeing 21mpg after the service

Temporary pain in the wallet - easily overwhelmed by the permagrin! Still the best car I've ever bought.

Our trip reads 33mpg at the moment, but I am sure it lies, will be able to tell real MPG once the tank is filled up again which unfortunately won't be long!

We have a manual so should be better than you auto boys, but I am sure trip is lying with 33!

Maybe they left something in the boot when they had it in?

Seem to be getting 27mpg from my manual regardless of driving style. With 500kg on tow it dropped to 23.5mpg. BUT today have been towing 24ft trailer weighing 3400kg which knocked it back to 13.4mpg Big Cry
