Front upper balljoints - insitu replacement?
Possible to do them with the arms still on the car with a decent balljoint press?
I have a press which managed the knuckle ball joints on my old Td5. I know the arms themselves are not very expensive but the bushes seem fine and I'd rather just replace what is faulty.

To be honest by the time you wrestle the ball joints out you'd have the complete arms off anyway. Besides, they're probably originals and you won't be very happy if a bush fails down the road.
For reasons above I've never changed just the ball joints, lube them up well with spray oil and I'm sure it's doable.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

It's not much of a job to replace the whole arm to be honest. The cost difference is small once you factor in a ball joint tool.

When I took my original upper arms off, the rubber had separated From the metal tube in the middle. With a pry bar, they moved around like it was Saturday night at the disco.
