fitting side protection strips
So - I have purchaded a set of the side protection strips and I've notice that the instructios state that they must be fitted at between 20 and 30 deg C and must be kept at 20 Deg C for at least 24h after fitting for the glue to bond.
Seems excessive - and impractical in the British winter.
Is the temperature that critical or would I get away with fitting in my cold garage. Any advice?

Lay the strips on the top of a hot double radiator (if you have them of course) for about an hour .....then fix immediately (other required conditions permitting) 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Keeping the vehicle dry for 24hrs after fitting is important, they will start to peel off if any moisture gets in between the adhesive backing and the paint before it has fully cured.LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

One of the favourites for handy hints this one - definitely warm the door panels and strips as described above. To assist in positioning, mark them out on your doors using masking tape AND use two people, especially on the longer front onesSteve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

oh - one other thing that I forgot to ask. The instructions mention cleaning/degreasing the doors to "refinishing standards". Whay does this mean in lay-mans terms. Will a good rub with fairy liquid be enough since that usually stips of wax??

A weak fairy liquid mix will be fine. As you mention this strips everything off. So should give a good grease free surface.
As for the temps Yes it is a good idea to have heat for fitting, but I fitted mine during the winter months a couple of years back when it was cold. I just cleaned, measured, peeled and fitted and they are still stuck to my doors all this time later.
I may just be lucky or it may not be all that critical
