First Touring Tin Hut Wanted

Looking to buy a first touring caravan in the next couple of months. Ideally 4 birth and year 2010+ With a bit of modern look inside.
Fixed bed and wash room a definite.

Any advice on best models/things to look for, or if you have one for sale etc it would be appreciated.

£10k max budget

Try and get one with the Alde heating. Far superior to blown air heating. We lived in one from November to April and it was nice and toasty with the Alde heating.

Decided due to having too much work to do to the house & garden after extension work, I’ll be moving my caravan out soon (pics in gallery).
Twin axle, 6 berth, fixed bed, end washroom, inboard water, alde heating, twin motor movers, modern inside and out......oh, and immaculate.

Unfortunately though it’s a bit out of the OP’s budget, but it does come with all the extras one needs to fathom into when buying a caravan.

Will be putting an advert up here first before offering to the masses.

There probably isn’t a”best” caravan as everyone will have a differing need, so the best thing to do is get along to a dealer or two and have a look at specs and layouts that work for you. But, if you can, buy the best you can afford with as much history as you can.

Hi,
I would give the same advice as looking for a car Shocked

As Al says go and have a look at some, get an idea of what you want But
dont narrow yourself down to much and only look at that spec, keep your options open and see what turns up.

There will be a good chance what ever layout you get there Will be compromise some where and when you have had a few times away you change your mind of what you Really want Laughing

(and when on the next layout you will change your mind again Whistle )

If your staring new you can spend a bit on accessories, look at s/h or a pvt sale with all the bits
electric hook up lead, fresh water container, bucket is about all you really need Whistle
oh and battery, gas cylinder, toilet fluid, leg winder, cordless drill ........... you get the idea

A recent indp Damp check or get one done is a good idea

Thumbs Up

A couple of years back £10K would have got you quite a reasonable van
But with the lack of foreign travel demand is outstripping supply, prices are rising and the order books for new ones are the longest most dealers have ever known.
Sorry if I'm sounding negative but enjoy looking around lots of them to get ideas of what you like, be prepared to travel, & good luck

Just a thought!
Have you been on a caravan holiday, camping trip?
I ask, as, My eldest thought it would be a good idea to buy a caravan. Himself, wife and two infants.
First and only time they used was last. Said they never argued as much in the 12 years of marriage as that week in the van.
Different for me and the wife, we love it Thumbs Up
Just a thought, maybe hire one first.

Have to agree with this statement, I bought a one owner Eldis Crusader twin axle and it had all of the toys some years ago - the D3 towed it like a dream - Mrs D hated it being towed behind and was having kittens all the way to Norfolk on the furthest outing we had in it.

Looked good but everything was just too fragile to have the kids near and was just worried they were going to damage something all the time.

Eventually sold it as she never wanted to go anywhere with it
