Hi, hoping one of the esteemed experts might be able to help me here...
I've replaced brake shoes and cables and set everything up as per the instructions in Bodseys excellent brake Bible and still suffering the screeching actuator. I've then replaced the gears on the EPB module gearbox then again rechecked the adjustment and still getting the same thing. I'm losing the will to live here ... any other ideas or things that could be causing it?
I spoke to a mechanic who's had similar and put it down to the cables being too long but surely the adjustment at the brake shoes would negate that?
Only error I'm getting at the moment is longitudinal acceleration sensor but I reverse the switch when it starts screeching to minimise the impact on the gears.
Any other advice would be much appreciated. MOT due in 2 weeks!

Just thought I’d post an update - another example of other issues causing problems with the EPB.
Had the wheels off again this afternoon, EPB set to service mode, fuse pulled, discs off to do a full recheck of the brake shoes. Stripped down, regressed and on reassembling the right side I noticed that the spreader bar forks were tight preventing the mechanism moving freely. Ran a file across the inside faces and relieved the edges then reassembled again. Rechecked the left hand side, both discs back on and readjusted the shoes and everything is now working as it should. I’ve not bothered with the bedding procedure as yet but with MOT coming up might just do it so it is as effective as possible.

I want to do my discs and pads at some point but with a working epb I'm a bit scared of causing myself problems!

If your EPB is working, it shouldn't cause you any problems. Just don't remove any more than you need to, getting the rear discs off is simple enough. Plus, you can clean and lube your EPB, which needs to be done regularly anyway to keep it working.
