Engine rebuild

Hi Joe,

Been reading lots on here... and after some advice from the expert.

I've just purchased a 2013 Discovery 4 Commerical with 97k on the clock. I want to keep it for a while.

Due to the mileage, it needs a cambelt ASAP.

Is there any cost saving in removing a working engine and have it rebuilt before it goes bang?

I guess what I'm asking, is there much price difference or should I just buy a lottery ticket and wait!

Thanks
Elliot

If the engine just needs a cam belt change why would you want to pull the engine and rebuild it - irrespective of mileage.

If the engine has issues well that is a judgement call but if no real issues then get the belts done and drive it.

You’d have to change the crank, but you’d still be gambling. Surely better, and cheaper, to run with a decent warranty?

If there is nothing wrong with the engine, then best not to mess around with it Elliot.

The best advice, get some good warranty, keep up with the service schedule and use quality oil.

I always find that hanging some lucky heather off the rear view mirror and buying a bag of 4 leaved clover works well Rolling with laughter

Got a part number for those items - they would fly off the shelves!
In today's world, if you contribute something, you don't contribute enough. If you contribute nothing, you receive everything.

Just checked with the supplier and somebody called DonT has been buying all the stock as he has something happening on 3rd November and needs all the luck to win biggly. All they have left are rabbits with no feet... Whistle

Thanks Joe.. wasn't sure about cost difference doing it before she blows or not. But appreciate the feedback. I'm off to the shop to find some lucky heather... I guess its next to the winning lottery ticket shelf!
