[ebay] Wheel nuts

These are the black ones that only seem to be fitted to early D3s

I need these... We striped the thread on one of mine in Wales, so could do with a replacement. Though probably I'll watch the price as I don't want all that lot if the cost goes up to high. Anyone know how much they cost each from LR?

£1.76 each supposedly, though that may be out of date
Part number for VINs up to 5A303208 is RRD500041 (black ones at a guess)
Part number for VINs from 5A303209 is RRD500042 (silver ones?)

Thanks for that info.
That should dampen my enthusiasm for bidding too high, as I don't intend to make a habit of having my threads crossed Rolling Eyes

It was cross threaded in the rush to get the nuts back on before the vehicle re-leveled itself and came off the jack. The person in question who was doing his utmost to help was the second section guide.

Luckily I'd given CC 4 extra ones along with the 17" wheel/tyre earlier in the day so he had a spare, did mean that along with his odd wheel he had an odd silver wheel nut too though!

Don't get at the person involved, it seemed to be very easy to do, especially in the circumstances.

I was right next to him and the nuts were a pain to get on, especially with the limited room afforded by the poxy jack.

Don't worry, the person concerned is a good guy and he did his best we all know that. Lets face it he is the first to help as always, remember the RR on its roof, he was first there. Still take the micky out of him, his wife does.

By the way, I had to change a front tyre on mine last night, and I tried the trick of raising to off-road, placing the jack under the chassis, then lowering to access height. The wheel lifted about 4 inches of the ground without me having to break into a sweat winding the poxy jack Razz

The only problem was that the car thought it was beached, and kept fighting to go into extended mode - as CC found in the above incident. However, I also found out last night that simply opening the drivers door whilst you change the wheel keeps it in access height Wink

We were under a lot of pressure to get off that lane before darkness fell, so I think our leader is fully exonerated for cross threading the nut.

Excellent snippet of info there Gareth about opening the door. It was a real pain in Wales as it reset every 2 seconds and I felt a awful sat in my D3 while everyone else was outside it working hard to fix it (the help offered and given was very welcome and something I am most greatful for).
