Drive-away locking stays in effect when engine off

Hello, not sure if I'm misremembering things but my disco 4 seems to be acting differently than I'm sure it used to.

I have always had drive-away locking enabled but I'm pretty certain that when I used to stop the car and turn the engine off all the doors unlocked automatically. However, now, when I stop the car and turn off the engine and get out of the driver's door all the other doors are still locked as well as the tailgate. I either have to use the remote to unlock them or press the unlock button next to the driver's door handle.

Like I say, I'm almost certain this didn't used to happen - but I may be deluding myself.

Has anyone got any comments or advice please?

Thanks

Thats what mine does and always has done. Although on thinking about it, im nearly sure that all doors and boot unlock when i open the drivers door.

Good news is I don't think you are going mad Laughing
I think you will have a slicking actuator on one of the doors that is stopping the other doors to unlock when you open the drivers door.

Lock the car and walk round to see if any stay open and vice-versa Thumbs Up

Thanks. Mine are still all locked when I've opened the driver's door though.

Thanks for psychological reassurance. Laughing

I'll go and check that but I think it's all the other doors are staying locked. What I'll do is try to various combinations of opening other doors first.

There is a setting in the menu accessed from the steering wheel for "2-stage unlocking". If this is set, the driver's door will unlock leaving the remaining doors locked until a second "unlock" command is received to unlock the rest. It's intended to provide some protection against car-jacking when someone jumps in through a passenger door while the driver is getting in or out.

I think 2-stage unlocking just means two key-fob presses to unlock rest of the doors, just 1 for drivers door.

at least that's how mine works.

Thanks for the suggestion but I'd already checked that and it's not that unfortunately.

Still to try hard reset - which incidently when I read a guide on it the other day said that "you disconnect pos and neg from battery and then hold terminals together" ... pretty sure they meant terminal clamps together as surely connecting the terminals themselves together would create further problems, to say the least! Smile

Nope, hard reset hasn't worked.

Tried the passenger door out...
Drive away, allow drive-away locking to engage, stop car, turn engine off, exit car through driver's door and all other doors still locked.

Drive away, allow drive-away locking to engage, stop car, turn engine off, exit car through passenger door and all other doors unlocked - clearly triggered by the opening of the passenger door.

In addition when you open the driver's door it feels "different" when the handle is pulled - like it's not triggering the unlock of all other doors but passenger one does.

OK so if a hard reset has failed, something else to have a quick look at is when you unlock the car from the outside does the drivers side open ok if you open another door first, may sound a bit daft but when my actuator was starting to fail the first time I realised was when I opened the passenger side door first and all other doors except the drivers side opened ok but the drivers side wouldn't open from outside unless I locked the car then unlocked and opened it from the divers side door handle. ironically as that was the one used most often I hadn't noticed and it was probably like that for a long time. Changed the actuator and it has been fine since
