Discovery 3 Load Cover fitting
Could any helpful souls out there please provide pictures of the Discovery 3 load cover - I believe mine has some parts missing as it only slots into place on the drivers side, there is nothing on the passenger side to hold it in place and I think this may be why it rattles annoyingly!!! Mine is a 2007 model. There appears to be a lever mechanism on the top of the drivers side but it doesn't move.
I want to make sure mine is broken before ordering a replacement!

Neil, my guess is you have the same problem as I had.
On the left side there is a plunger thingy that is spring loaded so it pokes out of the parcel shelf like this.

You should be able to see in the plunger a central slut where it slides in and out of the parcel shelf. The parcel shelf should have little pastic stoppers to stop the plunger coming out (you can see it is there on one side, the side you can see).
But on mine they looked ok but were snapped and hanging there so the plunger could come out

On my prev D3 it was like this when I picked it up so I took it back and they swapped it with one they had kicking around.

Its a warranty job LR did mine with no questions asked they replaced the whole shelf

That's exactly what has happened. I really appreciate your help - you are indeed a kind soul!
I bought the car from a car supermarket so I doubt I'll be able to claim it on their tin-pot warranty.
The people on this forum are so helpful - it has been a great help so far.

Parcel Shelf latch assembly help!!
Hi, I have been searching for ages trying to find out how the release latch my Disco 3 parcel shelf is assembled as mine has fallen apart. I have two springs, the lever and catch but I cannot figure out how it goes. These photos in this thread are the nearest I have been able to find.
Does anyone have any more detail or photo's of how these parts should fit together??
Any help would be much appreciated as I use the 7 seats a lot for the kids and the parcel shelf removal is a real pain without the latch working!

This is an image from the bottom and shows all the parts you have lying there.
Maybe it is off any help.
I had to fix the small metal piece to the lever because the thin piece at the end was broken off that retracts the part that protrudes when pulling the lever. Yours still has that plastic lip at the end.

That's perfect, I had half of it figured out and that's the picture I needed. All sorted now.
Even Landrover couldn't sort it when the Disco went in for suspension repairs, they said it was broken and needed a complete new parcel shelf!

it is some time since you have posted this topic ,do somebody know is it possible to buy just those two pieces. i lost one without spring.I do not like buy new cover because missing this small part.

The catches are not available on their own as replacement parts.
The release handle was missing from mine when I bought the car. I managed to get a second hand complete blind which was in poor condition but had the catches intact so I just fitted the catches to my existing blind and dumped the tatty one.
The blind cost me £40 but was a lot cheaper than buying a new one. Can't understand why LR do not sell the catch components as they would be cheap to supply.Relocated to Mid France from N. Wales March 2021

Thank you for information. Really stupid that you have to replace the whole cover because of such a small part. Maybe I will find something on E bay. Otherwise I will make this part myself, especially because I need one that is easier to made. Anyway thanks for the info.

The design and materials used for the latches is too flimsy for the use they get, for instance the release lever part when lifted can be felt to bend and I think someone who is heavy handed could easily break it.
Considering the price of the cars when new, higher quality and reliability seems to be lacking on far too many items. Added to that, LR are only too happy to sell a complete unit as opposed to individual components that are prone to failure. Relocated to Mid France from N. Wales March 2021

That is very true. I got a second hand load cover with the latch release lever broken.

Solution was simple, little rope/cord looped and glued directly to the latch.
