Disco 4 Memory Seats in D3 |
|
Hi All
I've been investigating the possibility of using D4 memory seats in a D3. From what I understand it'll all work but move in short bursts.
Has anyone done investigation as to why that might be? Is it missing a cable or is it because it's not connected to Canbus somehow?

The short bursts typically happens when D3 memory seats are retro fitted into a D3.
Because the red Lin wire isn’t connected.
Dunno about D4 seats. The memory buttons are on the door on a D4 so that’s one problem.

Hmmm interesting. Will investigate that. I can live without the memory buttons.

I have a D3 with D4 interior including memory on driver's seat. No seat adjustment on driver's side, without direct wiring to the motors. I believe the D4 seat ECU is located in driver's door, not under the seat as in D3.
Easy solution is a passenger side switch from LHD model, but I have not found one yet. Chris

Really? I thought the ECU was still on the seat, it's just the buttons for memory that are in the door cards?

Yes I've considered that an option... but that requires more manual labour... And I'd rather use my noggin and work out why it doesnt work and a fix

I have them in and fully working, with the caveat that the drivers one only moves in bursts for now.
What dilemma do you have?

I have a full D4 HSE interior inc door cards ready to go into my D3 HSE - currently my drivers seat and mirrors have memory on the D3 and I would like to keep this functionality on the D4 seat and door mirrors therefore my dilemma is to swap the cushions and covers onto the existing frames or swap out the whole seats and try to fathom the route to getting either the D4 seats to accept the D3 memory module, or get the door mounted memory module from a D4 and loom and try to get working with that.
I also plan to fit the D4.5 mirrors to the car which have memory and folding, that I guess adds further complication... Must stop buying shiny toys....

I have D4 seats in my D3. Swap the wiring loom and memory switch pack out of the D3 seat into the D4, everything works ok. Also have the D4 door cards, use a left hand drive door lock button then it does away with the D4 memory function👍 If you don’t do this, you are wrestling with a 24 but can us going into and 11 bit!!!!
