Disco 3 Snorkel ..should it be open at the front or not?

Hello friends ..A question about my snorkel..I got a snorkel not original a copy and I notice it is open at the front part and also it has the normal opening at the rear. I was searching and all the photos I see have snorkels only open at the rear part of the top. My concern is water getting in because it is open at the front making the entering of water easier or excessive..Or is it ok like that...If you have a snorkel like this one I would like your advice..I'm attaching a photo of the top of my snorkel. Thanks everyone.

Firstly, it is not a ‘snorkel’ it’s a ‘raised air intake’.

Early RAIs had the vents at the front, but for whatever reason on later models the blanks weren’t cut out.
As it is just a raised air intake (and not a fully sealed snorkel) you won’t have any issues.
Even on snorkels, the main vent faces forward.

Yes just to reiterate Ron’s comments they are only designed to take in non dusty air rather than to be used for wading purposes....
The base of the RAI where it goes into the front offside wing is definitely not waterproof! The fit is really bad and almost impossible to get a decent seal on it.... so don’t go wading thinking you are protected!

Thank you ronp and thank you Farmer Chalk..Yes. definitely not thinking about wading I'm more concerned about rain getting straight in through those front vents...Cheers and thanks again..
