Disco 3 Air con compressor |
|
Hi all, I am new here =)
I am the fist time to do repair job in D3. Many problems here but I want to fix the air con first.
Anyone can teach me how to find the air con compressor is in function or not?
it is because only hot air when I switched on air con.
I checked LOW pipe, it is no pressure on the meter;
try to refill gas, 1st time the meter will jump but try again, it returned to "0".
Is it no working on air con compressor? how can I find the root problem?
many thanks for your advise.
Cheers

Common faults are the condenser at the front or the fill valves which can be replaced like a tyre valve.
Best to take it to an air con place who can put some nitroen or cheap gas in it and listen for leaks

If you are able to find the leak yourself (which is the difficult bit), you can usually change the component or seal yourself.
Somehow you need to pump air into the A/C system and listen for leaks.
People will tell you putting air into the system could cause damage later on, but the weather is so hot at the moment, I don't see this as a big risk
I guess a typical visit to an A/C place costs £100.
and you may need 2 visits if you repair yourself

Do you have rear aircon? The pipes running under the car are the most common problem, if you only have front air con i would replace the condeser your self as the system is empty. I would then find a AC specalist who can pressure test the system with oxygen free nitrogen. If it holds pressure you then need to get the system vacuumed for a least an hour before refilling with gas.
Filling a system with a known leak can lead to a large fine if you get caught, i would find an aircon specalist in your area they will check the whole system properly it will save you time and money in the end. Andrew
