What did you burn this christmas day!

As I sit here in a reflective mood on todays proceedings, I thought I would offer some degree of compasion to those of us of the male gender who have tried our best to get out of helping prepare next years family feast by making a complete dogs dinner (quite literally) of this luchtimes meal Rolling Eyes

Now that the rants of "your completely useless" "that's not enough peas" "you've burnt that" oh and of course my personal favourite, " I thought you went to catering college" (yes, but that was 30 years ago and I studied Alcoholic beverages and food service - I can do a mean dry martini or flambe your fishfingers) are now a distant memory, I would like to invite this evenings audience to openly share their disasters in the kitchen in order that we can collectively heal our wounds and muster up the courage to start it all over again tomorrow Rolling with laughter

For me, I can confess to the following:

Burnt the "bacon and sausages in blankets" or put another way, bacon wrapped around a sausage
Managed to leave a dark crusty finish to the sage and onion stuffing Rolling with laughter
and my " Censored de la resistance" burnt my sons two barbeque pork chops (bloody fussy eater) to a point where even the dogs rejected them on the grounds of too high a carbon foot print, only to leave my 14 year old son to have to participate in more traditional food Rolling Eyes

Come now join with me and share your kitchen disasters with us all for a group hug from your fellow man Thumbs Up

I did my first Christmas Lunch today and parents came to us

I did

Tiger Prawns and Oak Smoked Salmon Crostinis with rocket and cherry tomatoes

Lemon and Raspberry Sorbet

Roast Turkey & Roast Goose with Apricot Force Meat Stuffing, Pork and Cranberry Chipolatas wrapped in Bacon, Pork and Sage stuffing balls wrapped in Bacon & Yorkshire Pudding with Turkey Gravy, Cranberry & Bread Sauce.

Garlic and Rosemary Roast Potatoes, Carrots and Parsnips
Mash Potatoes, Mash Swede & Carrot, Green Beans, Brussels Sprouts and Chestnuts, Savoy Cabbage, Red Cabbage & Apple, Leeks, Cauliflower in Cheese Sauce and Broccoli

Christmas Pudding with Remy Martin Sauce or Vanilla Custard

Stilton, Cheddar & Brie with Biscuits and Grapes

Coffee and Mince Pies

All washed down with Champagne, White, Rose Wine and Port

Luckily Waitrose & Marks & Spencers did most of the prep and all I had to do was heat up bits and place other bits on plates according to pictures. So the meal was a complete success apart from we couldn't eat half the food, in fact I don't think I'll be able to eat ever again.

....late reply

but different....
Two bales of Bord na Mona peat briquettes in the Morzine ski lodge I used over christmas...made a good blaze that heated the place up...may have confused the locals with the smell of burning peat
 BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics
Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.
Founder: Dipsticks-R-Us Inc
D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.
