D4 SDV6 only changing front Cambelt ?

what are the pros and cons of only changing the front Cambelt, how much time does this save please vs doing front and rear ? I know at least I cannot blow the engine by not changing the rear

reluctant to even do the fronts as the car is running so sweetly and after doing my previous D3 the engine was never the same, higher fuel consumption etc

Entirely up to you. As you say, if it breaks, it won't ruin your engine. However, do you want it to fail on a dirty wet night in the middle of nowhere when you're in a rush to be somewhere? Entirely up to you.

had my 2013 done end of last year, both belts and all rollers was £700 all in was advised not to skip rear belt as its timed unlike the d3 rear belt so if it goes its not just a refit new belt and away you go but i suppose you pay your money and make your choice

i did look at doing it myself but there's not much room for a 6-5" 18 stone person to get in there, had mine done at a local indi that assured me they had done lots with no problem although they did say they lift the body slightly to gain a little more access to the rear belt then done from underneath (presumably by a 3 foot person with 6 feet arms and 4 hands lol)
 please excuse any grammer/punctuation mistakes,i'm thick,thankyou

It's not as hard to do as it's made out just time consuming, hardest part is refitting the fan Shocked at least it can be a DIY job, not like fitting a new CAS module to a Mini, that is none DIY and a £700 job.
Should the rear belt snap unclean it can do a lot of damage that may necessitate the body coming off and a much bigger bill than changing the belt.
The whole OE kit including tensioners can be got from AF for around £160 delivered, plus you need a few tools, do the front one weekend the rear the next or when you've recovered, follow mikeys guide and you can't go wrong.
As far as your statement about your last belt change, "it didn't run as well after and uses more fuel" I can honestly say mine is like driving a different vehicle, although I had no complaints about it before it definatey performs much better though I did clean the MAF and Map sensors whilst it was stripped down.
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

oh yes mine runs smoother and slightly better mpg and as mentioned it was good before the belts where done and im doing the same driving as before the belt change i think im on about 65,000 mls now,if yours run worse after the previous belt change then i would also say that maybe it was not timed correct

only did the d3 front this time round though Laughing

thanks guys happy to DIY most stuff but as its the family wagon and in constant use it might result in a divorce if I don't get it done in a timely manner or even worse the dog might give me the cold shoulder. I wouldn't flinch at getting it done for GBP 800, but I that's not gonna happen in Zurich price wise and after previously wodging out for the D3 and it then running worse am cautious ...
