clicking/knocking noise when accelerating......

Anyone knows what this is ?

When i'm accelerating, quite hard out of a left hand bend/corner, there is a "clicking" or "knocking" noise coming from front nearside wheel area.....once the Disco 's straightened up it stops ...

Whistle

CV joint or wheel bearing, I would say wheel bearing if it does it on a slight turn but if full lock then cv joint.

I've been chasing a clicking noise from the front wheel area for months now, and seem to have finally cured it. I've replaced driveshafts (2 x sets) and front wheel bearings. It gradually came back. It was worse with steering angle applied but eventually happened when driving in a straight line.

It wasn't until after a cry for help on Instagram that my mate said that Nissan GTR owners complain of this issue and is due to poor mating between the wheel and hub area.

I took off the wheels, cleaned the disc mating surface with a wire brush then with brake and clutch cleaner, cleaned the back of the wheel mating surface with a wire brush, cleaned all the studs with a wire brush, put a very thin layer of copper crease on the mounting surface of the disc and reassembled. Make sure that all wheel nuts are tight, as they can work 1/4 turn loose over time.

My clicking noise has now gone, finally!!

mine was in with my indie yesterday and had the wheel off checked wheel bearing all good couldnt find anything obvious all back together and hey presto no more noise ..so i wonder if the mating surface diagnosis may well have something to do with it and the removal refit and retorque of the wheel nuts be the solution

wuill report if the issue returns as my indie though maybe its ball joint related

Had my indie look at mine, clicking heavily on NS when i arrived whell off lots of fiddling about but no obvious cause ,all back together and bingo noise gone ,,so i reckon in the refit of the wheel something relaigned and now think theres something in what you say Iian
