Broken bonnet catch

LR Disco 3- SE- Auto -2006- urgent Bonnet not opening

Hi Folks, Sorry to do this on a Sunday but can someone please PM how to get the bonnet open when the cable is not working.
I pull on the cable and it snaps back into place, no resistance, no click.

I can't drive the thing as the battery is flat, I cant jump-start the battery as I can't open the bonnet.
I can't even put it into neutral as it is an automatic and the handbrake is electric

Catch 22

Stuck in a village in the middle of nowhere in Normandy so the nearest garage is about 50 miles away 2006 Disco 3

You can charge it by connecting to tow bar electrics or to starter motor from below.

Someone said AA did it through number plate lights but I think that only works if lights are on. .

Hi folks,

problem resolved
thanks Hardman, I gave the info to the garage and they followed most of your advice. Nothing was broken in the process!!

Anyway the battery was completely dead, apparently the same battery since 2006! Pretty unbelievable. I should have seen this coming.
The time on the odometer was blank eventhough the time on the radio was correct.
Following the installation of a new battery (French Ford Dealer he knew a lot about Land rover engines and batteries), all is back to normal, touch wood. 2006 Disco 3
