Break pads sensor on - safe distance to drive?

hi,

i've just got a break pads sensor warning light on. what is the safe distance still to drive? I am far away from home

ah, it's D4 5.0 V8

It's only a guide to warn you that you need to get them looked at, will be fine to get you home normally, but take car of course and keep well back from the car in front Thumbs Up

Oh yes, amber warning light? Or Red?

Also, could mean that it's just one of the sensors gone

it looks like fr break pads are ok, but back ones are just like 2mm left

Only 2mm.... How long has the light been on, mine came on with about 4-5 mm left
 If it ain't broke... Take it apart anyway, how else you gonna find out how it works

hi,

sorry for posting so late but my plans have changed a bit and I have only changed the break pads today after driving 1350km and everything was fine
but first I have called the local dealer and they told me 1000km is safe depending on driving style, with back brake pads 2000km is achievable but the crucial thing is to check whether they are evenly worn on both sides as sensor is only on one ( and I thought in D4 the sensors are on both sides, opposite to D3),
according to dealer the warning goes on when there is 20% of the pad left;
2mm may be misleading as I was looking from the angle with wheels on
