Morning all, can someone pls remind me which 7 pin socket to use to plug the Ctek into, white or black? Currently it’s plugged into the white, but not sure if that’s correct as I had a low battery warning yesterday.
And also our caravan has a 13 pin socket, is it just a case of getting the 7-13 socket converter onto the discovery? Thanks in advance. Regards Tony

The black (12N) socket is for lighting only which is why it is often the single plug on trailers.
The white or sometimes grey (12S) socket is for habitation feeds with only one lighting circuit. Depending on what you read it is either the fog light or the reversing light. Pin 4 is the permanent live. Take care if you have reason to think the wiring harness is generic rather than Land Rover specific. I have seen some very dubious and under rated cables in use at times.
The 3/4 and the 6/7 pairs should be heavier cores to cope with the potential current (circa 30A) I have a cable I pulled out of an event trailer that had all 7 cores the same and little better than 2A each.
In terms of connecting a 13pin caravan to 12N/12S there are plenty of pre made Y leads around but again I have seen a few that the 12S branch is just too thin and flexible to have the heavy cores in. A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an MG5 EV
