Air Suspension protection boot for strut |
|
I was washing my lr3 yesterday when I found loose the metal strap that holds the rubber boot that protects the air bag on the right rear strut. It is sitting on top of the A-arm and the rubber boot is inside the strut. I can't pull it out or down.
Do you think that this is covered under warranty or should I keep trying to pull it out? I don't want to wait a week for something stupid like this.
However I don't know why this happened. I remember having a great extension (wheel in the air) in one of the trails. Maybe it overextended and the strap could not hold it.

Warranty job.
I can't remember any of us having an issue with this and we do some extreme stuff over here.
Probably just a bad luck thing mate.

Hi,
I've torn one of these, left rear I think, got a stick into it, What you might be seeing is the actual airbag now as the covering rubber is pretty thin and flexible, Maybe the majority of it is already gone leaving only the retaining ring.
The part was not expensive but I remember about 2 or 3 hours labour to take the suspension unit off, replace the cover and then refit and recalibrate.
cross your fingers for warranty but I wore mine out. TDV6
