Accusump Oil take off point
I've managed to grab a cheap Accusump 2 quart and am planning on mounting it near the chassis rail as my D3 can spend weeks without being used and I want to avoid the dreaded Crank bearing spin.
I have had a look at the Accusump installation guide and the usual Oil filter sandwich option is out of the question, so I was thinking of adding the take off point to be the Oil pressuse sensor point on the LHS cylinder head, however after having a look at workshop manuals and having a look at oil flows, I'n not sure if all I will get is literally a lot of hot air.
So has anyone had a think about either a custom tap or a tap point higher on the engine for a oil accumulator to avoid dry starts on this wonderful TDV6 engine....?
fairly sure someone on here has installed a pre-oiler but cannot for the life of me remember who

not heard of these.
you may want to consider the turbo oil feed at the rear of the engine block.
Landrovers have 1 turbo, but jags have 2 turbos (one either side), so a Jag turbo feed pipe may give you a take off you can use.
The turbo's are different, so check the jag pipe will fit the LR turbo

Accusump Oil take off point
Thanks Pete,
I can see the Turbo oil feeder pipe comes from the back of the engine.
I've already done a turbo change with body on and that was an absolute PITA.
I know for a fact that the oil feeder outlet from the block will be a nightmare to get to.
The workshop manual has precious little turbo info in it and the 2.7 ehgine block exploded diagram of course doesn't show where the oil galleries are or where the turbo oil feed pipe comes from block or Head...?
However if the jag S type used the same cylinder head, and the Turbo oil feed comes from each head then that might be a help..
Anyone know where there is as S type Jag Lkon engine workshop manual floating about!!!

Accusump Oil take off point
Thanks for This NJSS,
My thinking at present as helped by Pete K is, either to take a Jag dual turbo oil feed pipe mod it and use this as in/ out point for the Accusump.
Or as originally posted use the Oil pressure Sensor NPT output on the RHS Cylinder head.
if I use this I need to find out if the Sensor is hydrostatic or barometric and if I use the turbo oil feed output on the Cylinder block where this leads in the Cylinder block oil galleries..
I shall keep all here posted and talk to Joe at Oval motors...
If anyone has an idea of the oil galleries in the TDV6 engine
I would be most appreciative...

Accusump Oil take off point
I'm looking at the oil filter housing as a possible take off point for my accusump and I may have identified a place the isn't too cramped.
the side of the oil filter in the photo's looks promising how ever I need a right angle connector that can mate on a curved surface...
I'm looking at a couple of options but if anyone knows a possible connector it could narrow my search.
Also is there anyone who knows from this spot where the flow of oil is through the galleries so I can find out if this is a good spot to get oil to the Crank shaft ASA startup occurs....?

Accusump Oil take off point
UPdate...
Ive seen that the space around the Oil cooler housing is just Too tight.
However if I take the Oil cooler out there are front and back pipes into the engine Oil galleries.
One at the back Which I guess feeds the Turbo, pre crank shaft and piston cooling jets, and two at the front which must be post Piston jets, oil pump and pre oil filter, and Oil cooler.
Is there anyone here who knows which of the oil cooler gallery connectors front and back getg to the crank shaft quickest, as these will be the one I attempt to get a take off from as they hav thick sides which I can make flat and are big enough for the bore of the Accusump I have...
I'll post pictures when I have the oil cooler off...
