AAARRGGGHHHHHHHH!!! HELP! A CHRYSLER HAS GOT ME!!!!!!! |
|
Ditched the landy...literally in a ditch! On an 'unnamed road' down near Bognor Regis with some old dear (dear NOT deer!) hooning around a blind bend straight at me with the fear of hell in her eyes when she saw me!
Managed to power through it with a bit of a bump as she careered off into the distance!
Unfortunately, the obligatory 'bings & bongs' went off alerting me to a potential financial parting.
'Anti roll' light amber, 'Suspension Fault' warning, and 'Directional headlamp' light flashing amber!
Got out and had a look. No damage; a lot of mud and crap everywhere, and a 3 foot branch rammed up through the n/s front suspension!
Anyway, driveable up to about 65-70 then a few shudders.
Phoned the dealer and took it in this morning. Diagnostics brought up a 'Suspension Levelling and Lifting Fault'. Advised that next available appointment in 3 weeks!!! that!
Went outside, phoned LandRover Assist; All sorted within minutes. Basically, the branch has pushed the wiring out of the socket along the chassis in the wheel arch. Silly place to put it on an off road vehicle! Landy into dealer tonight and given a choice of hire vehicle. In a crazy fit of psychosis I opted for the Voyager.
I only drove it 5 miles home from Gatwick and I really do not like this car at all. It sucks, big time!
I have to put up with this 'car' till Monday.
I WANT MY LANDY Don't be paranoid.........'They' don't like it!!!!!!!

I'm running a job down that way and will be there again next week, so I'll 'keep em' peeled' for the daft old mare and give her a wide berth. Although not quite as wide as I did yesterday!
Now, this Christyler...
I only drove down to Bournemouth and back today and I felt like I'd driven back from Gibralter! What a heap of absolute, unadulterated ! It's nasty, really nasty. There's nowhere to put your left foot other than under the soddin brake pedal which is about 2 ft wide which means you have to do a quick shuffle when you need to brake. Nowhere to rest your right arm, engine as gutless as a freshly gutted trout, tiny meaningless buttons everywhere, tacky trim, and on and on!
Called Enterprise Hire and asked them to come and take it away. So, bringing a Jag instead!
Anyway, anyone had the lifting sensor go on theirs when offroading (intentional offroading!)? If you look in your front wheel arches you'll see the wiring loom go into an unprotected socket on the chassis. That's it! seems a bit feeble.

So call LRA and tell them you need a D3 or equivalent. You need to take your horse box or whatever over some very rough ground and you are concerned that you would damage your Christyler by doing so.
You spent a big lump of money on a LR, you don't really want to be driving the road bound equivalent of a boat any longer.

You're lucky. Back in the mid 80s there would have been a good chance you'd have met a bored and unbelievably drunk teenager in a "rebellious" stage on many of the backroads around Bognor, weaving across the road on my, sorry, his pushbike or sending fireworks racing off down the road at a height of about 4'
Allegedly I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Yup, I'm old enough to be your dad. Now off to bed I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
