I was thinking of Scotland in November when hopefully its calmed down a bit, going to avoid the madness of summer and stay local in July - August.

May I throw a different idea into the pot?

NC500 is likely to be teeming and yes Scotland is famous for its whiskey and the abundance of midges at the wrong time of the year.

How about the Wild Atlantic Way down west coast of Ireland? RoI is in the EU but is in the Common Travel Area with the UK. I do not think there are/will be any travel restrictions between the UK and RoI.

We had a great time doing part of it pre pandemic.

Whatever you decide, stay safe and enjoy.

We're used to driving long distances, often do 700-800 mile blitz on first day of our European jaunts and then 3-4-500/day thereafter between bases but I also point out Carlisle as 'just the start' to people when they talk of visiting Scotland yet they need to stop at the services for 'a break' on a motorway journey of less than a 100 miles in Englandshire Laughing

Ireland is a definite one and we have a 'round coast' trip already mapped out when we have been sorting holiday's previously and SWMBO has never been to Ireland (I've done 3-4 city or rugby trips). Only reason we went back over to mainland Europe was cost last time we looked, our Euro trips are ridiculously cheap compared to UK on accommodation costs.....

Pretty sure there are restrictions on crossing the N Ireland border to and/or from Ireland at the mo, that would have to be lifted. Plus, as most peeps are probably completely unaware, has been a ban on going into and out of Scotland since November, the border has effectively been closed to all but a few excuses. Any trip oop norf would require Queen Nicola to lift the border closure. Whistle Whistle

No.1 son (and some of his close friends) will have taken over the Shiel campsite and filling station in the next few weeks or so.
Plenty of improvements already underway.

I don't think you can book any of it at the moment because the formal handover hasn't happened yet, but do include stopping with us in your plans if any of the following apply to you:
- want a good stopping point;
- like good chocolate;
- need electric charging (at least 50kW available, possibly 75kW);
- want to help a young, local business;

We also have plenty of self-contained plus accommodation just down the road, quite a bit of which we don't open up other than to friends and family* (and who are people on a Disco forum other than friends you've yet to meet!)

Will donate to forum if any money ends up changing hands. Smile

* we do have accommodation that is publicly available but summer 2021 is booking up pretty fast.

Certainly hope she's lifted it by proper (well, Highland) summer!
Our local economy will be completely stuffed if not.

We've been smart this year. With everyone heading to Scotland, Cornwall will be empty this summer, so we're heading SW with the wobble-box Whistle

Yep. Devon and Cornwall will be completely empty! Surprised

It's the queues coming out of there you have to be careful of!

If you get as far North as Inverness do make a point of checking out Crakaig Beach, its where all the low down bums hang out Mr. Green

Don't send them West my way Euan Evil or Very Mad they need to keep going North West. Very Happy

I live in a total tip, absolutely nothing to see and do here. Sad

It's no wonder they call it the forgotten part of Scotland. Shocked

 I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
