Thanks to ridgeback_moor.

Some owners have experienced their fuel filler flap locking in the open or shut position.The most common reason for this the cable leading to the actuator becoming loose from the actuator bracket.

To view the actuator try the following :

Remove the OS/RHS internal plastic cover to the jack storage area.With the aid of a torch,look towards the wheel arch and the actuator should be visible.Check to see if the actuator cable is fixed in place to the actuator.See the red arrow in the picture below.If not refix in position as per the picture and check back along the cable to see if any other clips are loose or if the cable has become detached from them.
