All Terrain tyres (ATs) blend the on-road virtues of road-biased tyres (such as grip and handling) with the added strength, protection, ability and safety of off-road tyres.

Compared to stock road tyres, All Terrain tyres have a more aggressive tread pattern and wider shoulders, accompanied by reinforced tread lugs for maximum off-road prowess. ATs are generally stronger and more durable than road tyres, giving the tyres a greater life-span.

Advantages of All Terrain tyres
  • Greater off-road ability than stock road tyres
  • Strong shoulders and sidewall for extra confidence both on and off-road
  • Perfect tyre for all year round - no need to change to a winter tyre
  • Road noise is minimal compared to Mud Terrain tyres
  • Often no more expensive than road tyres
  • Long life-span, often around 40k miles

Disadvantages of All Terrain tyres
  • Fuel economy can weaken by around 2 MPG depending on tyres
  • Some users have reported a very slight increase in road noise on faster roads
  • Weaker performance in mud than Mud Terrain tyres due to less appropriate tread pattern
  • Less control and poorer handling in some on-road conditions

Information on the range of tyres available for the Discovery 3 can be found on the Suitable Tyres page.
