ZF filler plug
Hi
May i pick ur brains plse , now my mot is done , had another good look at my filler plug and looks like it’s never been removed
Wondering do these normally come out easy please or do they give grief , know u haven’t got a crystal ball but just curious if there renowned for being easy or not
Or is it just a case of cleaning it up with a dremel with a small wire wheel , fingers crossed then going for it
Got new filler and drain plugs
Just know there are so many gurus on here
Thks so much as always

they don't normally look that rusty to be fair!
So you may have fun!
Don't completly remove it, else you will loose 1 litre +
But it's the first think to try.
Hammer the allen key in, so it's complely located
As above make sure your key is fully in, they normally come out easily, make sure when you fill it that your gearbox oil is up to temp, if not the level; will be wrong.

Up to temp, AND RUNNING.
Wouldn't be the first member* to try to fill it without the engine running if previous threads are anything to go by.

Excellent, Thks so much guys , will ensure it’s nice and clean and also check there’s nothing to prevent the Allen key going in properly
Have got some sanding , wire wheels for the dremel so can carefully clean the crud off
indeed read threads , ref the refill / check procedure of having the engine running and if I remember rightly should be between 35-38c , refitting plug before it goes over 40 c
Checking temp via the iid
When I bought the new filler / drains plugs, also bought a decent Allen key that I can at least put on the end of a bar if it’s really tight
Hope I’ve got that right
Thks again and will let u know how it goes

Also just put the Allen keys on the bench grinder to take the slight rounded bit off
Hopefully they won’t snap if I need to give it a bit of stick with a bigger bar
Thks again

That’s the easy bit It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
