A young couple were driving through the countryside........
................ happy and madly in love pending their marriage, due the next day.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, a large truck came round the corner on wrong side of the road. It swerved but couldn't avoid them and.........BOOM........their car is obliterated and they are both killed outright.
Arriving at the Pearly Gates, the young couple confront St. Peter; "Sir, please, you have to help us; we were due to be married tomorrow. Is there any way we can be married in Heaven?"
"Hmmm", said St. Peter, "I don't recall us ever conducting a marriage in Heaven. Tell you what, I'll take it up with God and see what he says. Come with me"
So they approached God with their heartfelt plea.
God sat for a moment, thinking over their request. Then he looked down and said, "Come back in five years and ask me again."
Five years later, the couple approached God again, even more in love than ever and pleading that he allow their marriage.
God, again, sat and pondered for quite a while, mulling over their request. Then he spoke, "Come back in five years time and ask me again"
Once again, after five years have passed, the couple again request to meet God, more in love than ever and begging God's permission to marry. This time God smiled broadly and his booming voice declared, "Yes my dear children, you may indeed marry"
The wedding went off beautifully, the reception was amazing, old friends and relatives travelled from all over heaven, everyone thought the bride looked breathtaking and the groom was handsome, and everyone was happy.
Until.......
Only two years later, the couple were back requesting to meet God, and things were not looking good in their relationship. The couple had realised almost immediately that although marriages were made in heaven, they didn't last very long there.......
In spite of their effort to 'make things work' and come to terms with the situation, they had decided there was no alternative but to get divorced.........
God looked extremely off at this. Black clouds appeared, thunder rolled across the skies, shaking the ground and lightening cracked the sky.
God glared down at the frightened couple cowering before him, his face becoming dark and angry, and he roared.........
"Divorce? Divorce? That's impossible!!! It took us TEN years just to find a priest in Heaven, how long do you think it will take us to find a lawyer................?"
