Y Position Sensor Low voltage

Hello, I'm having a little trouble with my disco 3. I pluged my diagnostics into find out why i was getting a transmission fault and found an issue.
The fault was that the Y Position Sensor had Low voltage. I check it in live data mode to see what was going on and the voltage min 0.03V and max 3.36V below recommend levels. The voltage is changing as you move the gear stick left to right, Lowest voltage on the right. The fault is intermitant, drive 65miles no issue drive 200m issue, no logic to it.
Is it a bad sensor or a bad electrical connection and what is the best way to find out?
Thanks
