I've just taken delivery of a "pair" of xenon units ... Valeo descriptions look identical but they are 4 years apart in terms of when they were manufactured. They came off the same car at a breakers, so am assuming one got replaced at some point.
On checking them over before fitting, I've found that in one of them, the housing of the actual d3s lamp moves freely, pivoting as if hinged down left-hand edge (as viewed from the back).
Can't see anything amiss when I look inside but then again it's not easy to look properly.
Is it broken or is there something I need to do?
I'm on grandad duty at the moment so can't get a picture/video of the "fault" just now but will add pics of the parts labels when I extract them from WhatsApp..

one more thing i can think of it that light with moving lens has broken bracket responsible for switching lens from right to left hand traffic?
First thing I looked at but that mechanism is intact and moves with rest of the suspect piece.
Seller says he thinks it's wrong too but I'm hoping it's fixable as price was sensible..

i guess tow options in front of you:
return it for refund
open it up and try fixing it which might prove unsuccessful
Been offered half my money back, so fix attempt would be free ... but leaves me looking for another one if that fails..

Are you sure they are a matching pair ? As 2014 was the facelift year and those headlights dont swap
They match in shape, shape, looks and description on Valeo site.
Just need to find out how to open it..

Replacement parts can have a later date than model year supersessions, it's the part number (and any supersessions to that as well) that is important.
A few years ago I shipped some Freelander 2 Xenons to Portugal - well packed and insured, both were damaged in transit - even though there were no signs of impact on the outer packaging, I think probably due to a shock load on an axis that wouldn't normally be expected, it sounds like that's what has happened here.
^ exactly what I and the seller have come to the conclusion happened. There are marks/minor creases on the box but not enough, I suspect, the challenge FedEx on their handling.

The carrier I used tried to say they were not packaged well enough despite photos, I pointed out that it wasn't possible to put packing inside the light units and both boxes were marked with 'this way up' and 'fragile' markings. They paid up a week later but insisted the recipient kept the items and packaging for 30 days in case their insurer wanted to take a look.
If there are any signs of impact, I would encourage you to make a claim, the worst that can happen is nothing.
