Xenon angle
I'm sure its been done to death, but I'm new on here .....
driving with dipped beam headlights on I might as well get out and walk in front of the car, wearing a miners helmet while looking at my feet for all the illumination I get......I dont want to dazzle anyone or annoy oncoming traffic, but I would like to increase the angle.....I assume thats not something I can do myself ?

two screws at the back of the light clusters the ones closer to the radiator are responsible for increasing or decreasing vertical alignment of the beam

I have played about with it a bit.....just need a flat area with a wall in front to check the angles are not too severe but, yes,it seems to have done the trick "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Xenon Adjustment
Hi Guys
The crews inboard (ie closest to the radiator) do adjust the vertical beam of the dipped lights but does anyone know what the outboard screws adjust?. I've had the light units out as my local LR dealer fobbed me off with some bull story that to adjust them involved removing the bumper!
They are are marked V1 and V2 respectively.
Cheers Gez

Theoretically, you need to adjust both adjusters by the same amount to adjust the vertical alignment, and one or the other to move the beams horizontally.
In practice, I found that the one moved them up and down noticeably whereas the other had much less effect.2001 D2 GS (I must be mad!)

Its a bit of a catch22 thing....you can adjust them without removing the unit...but its very tight and awkward.Much easier to remove the rad and then the whole light unit, but if you do that there is no way of knowing how much adjustment is right without putting the whole thing back together and checking (unless you have the patience to go through the whole procedure a few times till you're happy, which I haven't ) !"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

No need to remove the lamps, they can be adjusted in-situ with a Philips screwdriver from above -

There's a hole in the top of the slam panel to get to the outer ones too.Clive

To adjust them is pretty straight forward as you guys have said and crwoody's pic picture paints a thousand words...but despite my many adjusting and faffing about with them, at least the vertical beams, I still get every other car flashing me at night. Standing by for obvious gag
LR must have a standard height and beam width that the cars at set up to.
On a totally unrelated matter I had the bumper front off to check front parking sensors and fog lights that were both u/s and found wires had chaffed against inner metal bumper in three places. Crap design and probably a snag that's waiting for most people.
