The worst oil dip stick ever! |
|
I have just been checking around my Disco and find the dip stick very hard to read.
At the last service I think a little to much oil was put in, and I know this has been discussed before on various threads before.
But the dip stick is a B*****d to read. It drives me mad!!!!! Arctic Frost Discovery 3 TDV6 SE, Active Rear Diff, Adaptive Head Lights, Tow Pack, Ebony Leather, Roof Rails, Mantec Guard. Tasmod Stainless Sill plates. Grabber AT's. Home made mud flaps. Side Steps back on until the next time.

agree
have posted before that this stupid bit of plastic is no replacement for the proper measure we used to get on cars.
Pointless trying to check oil when it gives you no clue what you are looking at. I'm on a whisky diet. I've lost three days already.

But it does!
Find the arrows on the relevant "beads" to see the high & low marks.

Maybe it time for "Multi-Focals"
My daughter-in-law is an Optometrist in Brighton
Although, I suppose, Melbourne, Australia is a bit far to come for a consultation
Seriously though, I don't have any trouble reading mine, and it regularly comes back after a service with an
extra Litre of oil (that I then have to drain out)
Do the service guys have a "gun" that adds a set amount of oil
Maybe they haven't drained all the old oil out

aren't you supposed to pull it out the engine block first to read the end reaching down into the sump area?
PS you just knew somebody was going to write something like this

Some workshops do have and use digital bulk oil delivery systems, but these are only as accurate, as long as they are calibrated on a regular basis. Others still use the digital delivery system, but still pump it out into the plastic type measuring jugs used in workshops. ATB
