Worrying noise after offroading
Hi,
After an hour of offroading at Avon Dassett I parked up and then, after the engine was turned off, the car made an almightly GGGRRRRRR type noise. I didn't get any warning lights and moved the suspension up and down and everything seemed ok. Then, a few minutes later, with the car locked and the engine off it did it again.
It hasn't done it since, only the twice, but I just wondered if this is something I should be worrying about?

Sounds like an EPB problem.
You may have dirt in the electronic park brake mechanism... take it to the dealer for them to look at.
Did you do lots of deep muddy / very dirty water ?
The park brake issue is very common after off-roading and it needs cleaning out.Matt

If its OK now you probably (love that get out word) will be OK.
Whatever was in there may have gone.
Worth checking anyway under warranty and tell them it started before you went off road

Matt - you had a parking brake that could stun a badger at 40 yards didn't you? That was _when_it worked.

Yep. Not much fun parking on a steep rock climb in the Lake District without a working handbrake. Still plenty of parked D3s behind to catch me.
Dealer fixed it under warranty. Complained about mud in it. Then ordered parts and fixed it a couple of weeks later.Matt
