Worrying gearbox thump on my car today...
My 8 speed 2013 D4 lux is just a year old, and 25k miles. Today, it has been acting a bit strange. When driving along at a steady 30 mph, the car has been appearing to misfire, just a momentary hesitation every few seconds, not all the time.
The slow speed gear shifts have been less than smooth, and it was very keen to downshift when accelerating rather gently at motorway speeds.
Nearing home this afternoon, I coasted to an almost stop at a roundabout, but when I applied accelerator to move off, it gave a big thump as is moved off. It felt like someone had run into the back of me!
Off on holiday tomorrow, towing the tintent, so will definitely be keeping LRA phone number to hand!
Fingers crossed.

Well, I hope not! At least yours is conclusively knackered.
I've just been to the local shops, filled with V-power and it seems fine again. I did put some normal derv in it this morning as my normal Shell station was closed. I am hoping it was just the gearbox adaption not liking my cheap derv.
By the way, I do hope you get a rapid resolution to your failure. Have you Pete@Landrover know? He will no doubt be interested, and keen to get you a quick and satisfactory outcome.

Thanks Gareth I hope it gets sorted too.
Do you have Pete's email address?
Dealer is being very proactive at the moment but the more I think about it the more distressed I am getting.

PM him and I am sure he will make sure you are looked after. He probably won't respond until after easter though.

Yes, been a few times. Not since it was done up though. Looking forward to a few pints of 'Bluebird' tomorrow night in the village. Then climbing 'The Old Man' on Saturday, followed by a few more pints no doubt

You might have a point but would happily swap a few days in the office for lunch with the ILs.
I am so dead if SWMBO reads this.

Sadly, the situation persists
I have towed the caravan up to the lakes and whilst it was fine when moving at speed, it was very lumpy and jerky when going slow. Still seems to be grabbing 1st gear when apply accelerator at very low speed.
I'm not going to let it ruin my holiday though, the car is still perfectly driveable, so will get it booked in when I get home.

Worth trying the "Ignition on/hold throttle on the floor for 30secs/etc" trick?
