Wonky radio

Radio has suddenly developed loads of static and poor reception with anything bar local FM. Happened yesterday. I'll check the aerial connection to the headset but where is the connection at the other end and how do I get a look at it? Any other ideas on what might be wrong?
Thanks, BCP

VA's missus is having the same problem with hers. Might be worth seeing whether he's done anything about it?
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

The HSE's have a diversity antenna system that use the rear heated screen as a second antenna - check the two earth straps on the tailgate hinges for corrosion, if OK, pull off the hard trim on the upper tailgate and check the earth connection on the choke's (they are about 75mm long by 10mm square, black, with an earth tag mounting)

Very Annoyed - What was the outcome ? Drove up to Cambridge last Sunday and the radio was cracking and popping all the time. Its still doing it and was fine up until last Sunday and it happens across all bands so its not the transmitter.

Sorry forgot - a wire was being pinched under the seat, or so I was told.

My FM reception disappears completely for a second when low signal.
The base radio is chinese c Censored ap MY 08 is supposed to be different.
Awaiting explanation from Nick. Dealer will probably fit one anyway and see if it works.

Hmmmm, I've got the dreaded static radio syndrome on my 5 day old TDV6 SE. I thought the radio wasnt very clear and then I had the system upgraded over the last couple of days http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic18767.h...dd+speaker . After having an amp and some speakers put in, the radio reception is noticeably not very good. The system sounds awesome when playing a CD or the ipod, but the FM/AM reception is a noticeable issue with the new cleaner sound.

I'll be driving over to the stealer tomorrow to let them have a listen..........
Picked up my new MY08 Stornaway TDV6 SE late Feb. FULLY STOKED! Thanks in advance for all the advice/tips you guys have shared on here!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't suppose you had metallic window tint installed on the rear side windows by any chance?

The 08 head unit in mine has solved the issue of drop out but the reception is still poor in places but greatly improved. Without a diversity antenna I think it will not get any better.

Moby, I did have tint.......not sure as to metal as it was installed by the stealer prior to pickup. I'll call them today and ask to speak to the guy who installed it........Sounds like this is a known problem?

rats - this morning mine started as well. Although it is very strange as I get it when playing CDs also Shocked

For me it sounds like a partially tuned Am station playing through the front left speakers. Very odd, if I change fader/balance to exclude this speaker then it goes away.

Could it be water ingress - I just washed it on the way back from the airport and it started this directly afterwards Big Cry
