Women & Ice
Went to pick up my boot mat this morning (thanks Slimer BTW ). I was driving along a back road near my house where a woman was standing by her slightly bent Subaru Impreza flagging me down. I stopped and wound the window down. She told me to be careful as there was black ice on the road and she had just spun her car and so had the woman driving in front her.
So is this a woman thing? Do they not realise that you have to slow down when it's icy There was no black ice as you could clearly see the road was icy Global Warming.... I'm luvvin it

Had one overtake me whilst I was doing about 10 miles an hour on sheet ice on a country lane - even worse was the fact she had two kids in car seats in the back of her BMW 5 series.
She did however slow down when she got to the first bend - mainly because she went straight on and plowed into the field behind it!! fortunately the were all ok but the silly mare then said - I did wonder why you were going so slow!!
Noticed the car is still stuck in the field this afternoon!!Must stop buying shiny toys....

When we had our mega snow storm in Swindon several years ago (before the D3 ) I saw a woman repeatedly accelerate hard to get going then emergency brake to avoid the car in front of her (which was calmly and correctly driving at about 2mph because the snow compacted into hard ice and there was br all grip).
I thought the first time : Ooops, she won't do that again.
The second time I thought : Silly mare.
The third time I was awestruck, and the multiple times after that I wondered whether it would do the world a favour if I just tipped her car into the ditch at the side of the road. I felt really sorry for the lady in the car in front - she must have kept seeing these headlights recede into the distance then come roaring up like a battering ram.Dr. Ian Malcolm:

Transgenic tomato anyone?

Many years ago I was stood, with my father on the forecourt of a garage, it was very icy and it was all we could do to stand up. A rather dishevelled lady comes along and asks if we've got a tow truck and explains that a lamppost has just stepped out in front of her. None of us knew quite what to do or say, as opening our mouths would result in us laughing. She broke the ice by laughing at what she'd said.
we eventually got the tow truck out and went to her aid, and in all fairness to her it really wasn't her fault but the combination of ice and gravity - her car had slid down her drive and across the road, all initiated by her shutting the car door as she got in to start the engine in preparation of de-frosting the car.....Rob Smith
