Wits end.
Hi all,
I have been experiencing problems with my disco for over 2 weeks now, HDC,Engine Fault, Suspension message and limp mode All started out of nowhere then next day had a fuel leak which was coming from filter sensor(Garage removed sensor and fitted black screwing plug with drain) and said it wouldn’t affect the running of the vehicle?
The faults kept coming and after switching off for a minute everything was fine, only recently bought a basic icarsoft reader to see what’s going on. DTC P0087 amongst other u codes every time, codes were cleared and next day Bong! I have replaced a lot of items in the hope that it’s something I can deal with such as..
Brake switch.
New Battery (Tayna)
Alternator (Af)
Belt and tensioner
Fuel filter was replaced with Gen Lr back in April
Rear D4 lights
Took her out last night for drive and in thought that I had cracked it, loads more power, quiet running plenty of boost on acceleration on flat roads until I stopped in a lane to turn around when having to drive up a small incline the dreaded Bong happened Several more times this happened whilst climbing the hill, turned off on to an estate road which is relatively flat no probs, drove nicely through the gears until the next roundabout then Bong. Got home and threw the keys into the draw for the night and gave up. This morning however I had to transfer some equipment from the boot to my donor car and the Ing upper tailgate wouldn’t open, pulled the rubber back and it had completely collapsed, one ordered for delivery tomorrow.
Another drive on the same route tonight showed same results in exactly the same locations, got home and read the codes.

If you search p0087 on here and you will find that a lot of us ended up changing the HPFP for a final fix. Make sure that the LP side of the fuel system is ok first, it can sometimes be the cure also.Simon.

All booked in for a full diagnostic test tomorrow, strange thing is that the two past mornings you can drive it with no issues, then it may just be a coincidence but once it’s 20c or over then faults on acceleration on flat or inclines? Hopefully tomorrow I’ll have some answers

Had this problem a year or so ago, like you I had already changed the fuel filter a few months earlier, and was now resigned to changing the HPFP. Purely as a hunch, I decided to change the fuel filter again with a genuine LR unit. Problem disappeared and hasn't returned since.

No starting problems other than HDC,Transmission and Epb warning lights, stopped car and restarted no problem, got home and realised I had a fuel leak from filter, took car to local garage who said the filter sensor was leaking, they removed the filter and fitted one with black drain valve instead? Since then persistent bongs when hot? I had fitted genuine filter myself back in April not checked to see what brand is on there or if they refitted my own one?
I’ll know more tomorrow hopefully.
Thanks for all the replies
Paul
P.s Checked codes again today P0087 was the only code other than usual lost comms.

Hi Paul, I'd strongly recommend you have another look at the filter again before you cough out big bucks. What have you got to loose....£30!!

Just to put a close to this thread I’ve been and had the HPFP replaced today and I’m very happy to say all is well except for the big dent in my wallet On the plus side the rear belt and tensioner has also been replaced and it was found to be defective to the point of failure. Big thanks to RK Automotive in Tamworth for your assistance at short notice
