Wiping the smile off my face
Sorry, I'm full of questions at the mo!
My new (to me) 2012 Disco 4 HSE Luxury has forgotten how to wipe automatically. It'll wipe once if pushed down on the stalk, and if clicked up one click then it will give a single sweep, and that's your lot no matter whats happening outside. Click up once more gives single speed wiping, which drops to intermittent wipe when stationary and then restarts single speed wiping as you move away, but the first position is adamant that it ain't gonna do nuttin' after its initial sweep.
I've looked here before posting, but the only thing I can see is about swapping from auto to inter. I'd be more than content to take whatever auto wiping is offered to me, if only I could persuade the car to do it. I don't have access to one of those tools you guys use, and to be fair I wouldn't have a clue what to do with one if i did have it. Is there some sensor I could clean and offer thanks to some deity or other?

Perhaps the rain sensor isn't working? Has it had a new screen? Should be a Pilkington glass, some others don't work very well.Richard

There's a sensitivity dial on the stalk. Has it been moved
to minimum? If so dial it round to Max and see if that makes any difference.Gary

No, the stalk seems to be the issue, because rotating it doesn't wipe the screen no matter what

Fitting a replacement stalk is one of the easiest things to do on a D4... probably someone on here will have one kicking around I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Does the stalk work at all in manual modes?
If you can turn on the wipers using the stalk (low/high speed, just one and two clicks above "auto") it's not the stalk. It's your rain sensor.Wojtek

Yes, I have slow wipe, and it correctly drops to intermittent when stationary, and fast wipe with one click up from there. So if it is the rain sensor, how do I go about resetting or replacing it?

Remove int mirror surround, disconnect the sensor, unlock two small metal latches that keep it in the frame fixed to the windscreen and carefully remove the sensor (not the frame) from the windscreen. Remove residual gel padding from the windscreen using a rubbing alcohol - the area has to be clinically clean.
Affix a new gel pad to the new sensor. From here installation is reverse of removal.Wojtek
