Firstly - I am bloody sure that when you press for washer liquid to spray over the windscreen, the wipers automatically come on no matter what setting you have the wiper stalk...(please tell me I'm not imagining this...).
This evening, SWMBO was driving and she pressed the washer button on the wiper stalk and out came the liquid - but the wipers didn't wipe... I asked her to try it again, and same result...and the same a little while later.
But - they are working fine on all the usual settings. Just not when you wash the windscreen.
Ideas...?The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

I find it takes a while after holding the button before the wipers come on. Without stating the obvious has she held the washer button in long enough?Global Warming.... I'm luvvin it
Was about to say the same as Shrinky, but then, for a change I decided to scroll down and check for more posts LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

You are not.
And I have experienced the same last week. I sprayed the windscreen and was surprised very much the wipers did not come on by themselves.
Trying to trace my steps back... sometimes in this weather I tend to take wipers off the 'auto' setting (car didn't know what happened ) and I think that was the difference. I'll have a try tomorrow if wipers come on when spraying in 'off' position...

ok...the replies got the better of me and I've just been out to the car...
Its a user interface problem...
Turns out Mrs Lux WAS just pressing the washer button too quickly - enough to spray water...not enough to activate the wipers...
And I can confirm that the wipers will work when the stalk is in the "off" position...The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
