'Winter' Wheels

Loads of info on here I know chaps but...

Now that I have taken delivery of my new wheels & tyres, can anyone give me their advice/pros/cons of which tyre to shod my 18"s with for, ahem, "winter" use? Whistle

(Where's the 'Nudge Nudge, Wink Wink' emoticon)? Very Happy

I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I have used these for a couple of winters.

They grip pretty well (on and off road) and wear is fine. I ran them Nov to March

"Well with this strange global-warming-type weather we have had of late, I think we should be prepared for almost any terrain"...... I said to her.

Yes I think it might be a particularly muddy/sandy winter this year!

Oh, and what about sidewall damage resistance?

Ran the wintrac 4 Extreme last winter, bloody amazing, have got them on a spare set of rims ready for this winter. 2 sets of rims is the way to go if you want the best of both worlds Thumbs Up

for 18" I'd recommend AT2's Thumbs Up

They're useable day in day out, last quite well, don't cost too much, and seem to be suitable for, well, err... all terrains Razz

we've been very happy with Nokian Hakkapeliitta R SUV's - see www.nokiantyres.com; they have 'rim guard', and 'mud stopper' features.

The rim guards on my old car fitted with Nokian summer tyres have really helped to save the rims from kerbing.
