Will a puller get hub off?
Will a 3 leg puller be sufficient to pull the driver side hub off to replace it?
I hammered the other side off but wasn’t overly comfortable with that, and it also exposed my faulty fuel pump which cost me more money.
Any thoughts welcome.
Thanks
Baz

From my experience with D4, puller just manages to push the drive shaft out. The hub/bearing assembly took mighty force with a large hammer to shift them!Discovery commercial tdv6 auto 2013

Having just done one, I'd say chugga is spot on, a puller will just push the shaft through. Hub off was repeatedly going around it with the hammer.

I can't see how you'd use a puller to get the hub out of the upright? An I missing something?Richard

Thanks all, will get the hammer out again.
Rrhool - Was hoping I could put the puller on the hub and push against the drive shaft, like the D2 as just wasn’t sure I needed to be so heavy handed but everybody is confirming a good hammer is required.
Cheers for posting, really appreciate it.

Oh yeah have a check list to go through before taking a hammer to hit, wanting to try and avoid any costly errors by catching a sensor.
I have a dead blow mallet I brought for paving going to try that first as the lump hammer on hub really makes a noise that the neighbours don’t appreciate. I couldn’t really hear it though as I had ear defenders on 😂😂😂

Yep, hit it with something with a dead blow action, with plenty room to swing the proverbial:

I did this to get front hubs off ....
With the wheel , drive shaft nut , speed sensor , caliper and carrier removed , the drive shaft pushed in a bit , and the 4 hub bolts removed .
Put on an old disc the wrong way round on the hub and finger tighten the wheel nuts . ( best to use regular nuts or old wheel nuts ).
Then hit the back of the disc with a 2lb hammer at 3 o'clock, 9 o'clock, 12 o'clock , 6o'clock . Or use an air chisel with a flat hammer bit for least effort .

I use an SDS drill (Makita 18v) since moving away from big air tools.

If the new hub comes with bolts, i unscrew the old ones nearly to the end then whack them with a hammer.
It's a bit close to the drive shaft rubber boots so have to be a little bit careful
