The damage to the doors doesn't really convey the seriousness of the accident, but the cracked wheel shows how big a shunt it was

Looking at the thickness of the rear wishbones under my car, to knock that out of alignment would take a hell of a thump. I would wonder if the force has ripped a mounting out somewhere.

I spoke to a B&L, as they are working on my existing claim. The laws are indeed totally different, which would make it very hard/impossible to recover costs from an overseas insurance co.
Worth remembering though if a non-fault accident happens in the U.K.

Do you trust the quality of the workmanship being done? Are you sure that their work will be up to the required standard to not invalidate your warranty or paint warranty.
I say this for 2 reasons:
1. I had a similar shunt in a year old car where it was a bit 'shall we /shan't we repair'. What came back was an undriveable dog and it took us 3 months and umpteen inspections to get the car rejected and written off.
2. As you can see my other car's a beemer and they won't warranty the paintwork on any panels non-BMW painted so you will need to check there is a warranty on the paintwork for whoever does it.
Having been stung once I would always find an independent (or LR if they're not doing the work) engineer to inspect the car before taking delivery. As always as soon as you drive off you lose some rights.
Obviously if the work is in a LR dealer you are fine on most counts.
Glad to hear you are OK - must have been pretty terrifying.2008.5 D3 HSE, Stornoway, Ebony
