White dust? around cambelt tensioner

I changed my cambelt and tensioner 2 years with dayco.

Had the belt off less than a year ago.

Now there is loads of white "stuff" dust? around and behind the tensioner.
Should I be worried?

Thank you

It's the alloy oxidising. If you want a shock, try taking off one of your door mirrors, just the rection over the hinge and you will be greeted with the same white powder.

It seems Landrover don't anodise their aluminiium so it's all left
exposed to the atmosphere so naturally breaks down over time.

You can remove the tensioner and give it a clean and spray with WD40 or suchlike
or give it a paint with grease which will protect it.

Thanks.

Didn't strike me as alloy ox.

Yeah I've got if off.
